is a German activist regarding the political
strategy for the internet and a journalist from Berlin. He was best
known as the editor-in-chief of Netzpolitik.org [2], which deals with
information society issues. Netzpolitik.org is one of the most
well-known German-language blogs and was awarded the
Grimme-Online-Award [3] in 2014.
Markus Beckedahl has also
joined a constitutional complaint of the Society for Freedom Rights
e.V. at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe, which is
directed against the power of various security agencies and
intelligence services to automatically retrieve biometric passport
photos. Biometric images may be used e.g. for face recognition or
matching with other databases.
